Owens Co-Sponsors Curriculum Review of Teachings Transparency Act

Last week, Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04), Ranking Member of the House Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education Subcommittee joined Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) and Dr. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader to introduce the Curriculum Review of Teachings (CRT) Transparency Act. This legislation would require local school districts to post the curriculum for each grade of their elementary and secondary schools on a publicly accessible website.

"Parents should never be in the dark when it comes to what their child is learning in the classroom," said Rep. Owens. "The CRT Transparency Act is a commonsense piece of legislation that will strengthen accountability and keep parents and families in the driver's seat."

"Elementary and secondary education is a collaborative process between teachers and parents. Unfortunately, too many school districts are dissolving this communication, hiding behind an opaque curriculum ripe for left-wing indoctrination. Parents, students, and community members deserve to know what their children are learning. Knowledge is strength, and the CRT Transparency Act strengthens both educational freedom and school choice by arming parents with the information necessary to choose the school option that works best for their child," said Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC).
